FLOYDADA – Floydada residents will soon see an increase to their water bills. The Floydada City Council approved an increase of $5 a month to residential and commercial bills to complete needed replacement of three storage tanks used by the city for more than 50 years.

The majority of the $1.25 Million project will be paid by funds given to the city as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. The city will also cash in two Certificates of Deposit (CDs) set aside for capital investments and have inquired with Floyd County on additional funds the county received in ARPA money, something County Commissioners discussed but did not act upon during their Monday meeting.

City Manager Darrell Gooch tells the Record the increase will be temporary, and notes the city decreased rates following completion of a similar project in 2021.
