UPDATE 3/17 2:00 p.m. – Lockney City Secretary Laurie Garcia tells the Record due to a second lack of quorum for Saturday’s meeting, the city council will now convene on Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00 a.m. in the Council chamber at the Lockney Community Center.

LOCKNEY – Lockney’s regularly-scheduled monthly meeting set for Tuesday morning was canceled due to lack of a quorum, so now the city is scrambling to put together a Saturday morning meeting to set details for the city’s May 7 mayoral election.

Current Mayor Michael DeLeon is not seeking re-election. Two candidates, Ricardo Basaldua and Aaron Wilson, have filed to run for his seat. The election, held in conjunction with the county, will feature early voting from April 25-29 and take place at First United Methodist Church.

The council will also take up discussion on a Community Development Block Grant. The meeting will take place Saturday morning at 7 at the Lockney Community Center at 502 SE 8th Street.
