Whirlwind Golf named district runners-up, advance to regional tournament

LUBBOCK – The Floydada Whirlwinds golf team finished as the runner-up to the New Deal Lions at the District 4-2A golf tournament on Monday at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

The Lions shot 357 as a team, while Floydada turned in a 515. New Deal players Truett Davis and Zayne Fulcher tied for top medalist honors by each shooting an 85.

Floydada’s Reese Hinsley scored a 117, with Brett Brittain coming in at 123. Trace Glasscock shot 133 and Logan Smith had a 142 on the day.

Both New Deal and Floydada will advance to the Region 1-2A Tournament on April 18-19 at Palo Creek Golf Course in Canyon.
