LOCKNEY – The use of a machete in a fight led to the arrest of a Lockney man last week.
According to the Lockney Police Department 39-year-old Ismael Echavarria used the machete to cut the person he was fighting with on April 15. He then ran from his home while being questioned by police about the incident.
Police secured an arrest warrant for Echavarria and tracked him back to his home on Friday. Lockney Police say he started to comply with orders to put his hands behind his back but then tried to again run from his home.
Police say Echavarria was taken into custody following a “brief period” of resisting. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest and posted a $6,500 bond later that evening.
