LOCKNEY – The City of Lockney is now under water restrictions.

The mandatory stage 3 restrictions went into effect on May 1, and mean that residents can only water their homes 2 days a week, and that depends on their address number.

Letters explaining the restrictions were sent to each Lockney resident last week.

Residents living in homes that end with odd numbers can water on Tuesdays and Fridays. Homes ending with even numbers can water on Mondays and Thursdays.

Watering will be allowed on those days between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and then again during the evening between 8:00 p.m. and Midnight if winds are below 15 miles per hour.

No watering will be allowed in the city on Wednesdays or on weekends.

The first violation will carry a 25 dollar fine. The second will be 250 and each additional violation will cost residents one thousand dollars.

The City of Floydada has no plans for water restrictions at this time.
