RALLS – The Floydada 12U Futures have really played well by winning the first two games of the Section 1 Little League Softball playoffs at Dag Azam Field with consecutive shutouts. Floydada opened the tourney on Friday by blitzing Pecos 16-0, and came back with another solid outing to blank Childress 6-0 on Saturday.
This now advances Floydada to the Championship games on Tuesday at 5pm needing one more win to advance to the West Texas State tournament of the Little League playoff system. Floydada would have to lose twice on Tuesday to face elimination.
Childress defeated Pecos 5-2 on Sunday in an elimination game. This will advance Childress to the Championship game to challenge Floydada.
Bella Perez has been outstnding in the circle for the Futures by allowing one run and throwing 21-strikeouts in the two wins. The Futures defense has been strong by allowing only two base runners to advance to third base in the two shutout wins.
Floydada’s offense has been very opportunistic in the tourney and received contributions throughout the lineup. Karah Cavazos leads the Futures with five runs scored; followed by Abby Reyes with four runs; Bailey McHam and Perez have crossed home plate three times each; while Jenna Martinez, Brooklyn Pyle and Aybree Castillo have scored twice each.
