GALVESTON – Floyd County’s Marty Lucke is a popular fellow in Texas municipal circles, and a new award given to him by the Texas Association of Counties for his investment strategies is showing just how popular he is.

Lucke was honored by the organization for 5 years of excellence in county investment education during their recent County Investment Academy in Galveston last month.

According to a release from the group, Judge Lucke was one of 21 officials honored by TAC.

The release states the Texas Public Funds Investment Act requires county commissioners courts
to designate a county investment officer to invest county funds.

During Monday’s commissioners court hearing Judge Lucke gave an update on how Floyd County’s investments were doing. “The County is in good shape” he told the court, laying out how the current portfolio is up to nearly $900,000, or roughly 2 months of operating money the county would need under its current budget.

Lucke also showed how the county has a surplus of more than $2.3 million on hand off a total balance of $7.3 million.
