NEW HOME – The Whirlwinds were close. Tied at 14-all at the half, they were down seven by the end of the 3rd and were down 14 in the middle of the 4th when they got within striking distance of the goal line before turning the ball over on downs.

But in the end they just couldn’t catch up, losing to the New Home Leopards Friday night by a 14-28 score.

The defense is what kept the Whirlwinds in the game, forcing three turnovers with Saul Reyes, Hagen Hinsley and Armando Cruz each coming up with an interception.

Up next, the Whirlwinds head to Hale Center as they face their former district foes Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
