Lockney native flying high with Mean Green

DENTON – A man who grew up wearing Lockney red now sports Kelly green, but not for his high school’s oldest rival. On Saturday the University of North Texas announced Lockney native Jared Mosley had been tabbed to lead the ‘Mean Green’ as their Athletic Director.

Mosley, who had served as UNT’s interim director, was promoted to the position from Chief Operating Officer of the athletic department, a position he had held since 2016.

The former Lockney Longhorns basketball player graduated in 1995 and went on to a collegiate career at Abilene Christian University. He made their sports hall of fame after getting his Bachelor’s degree in 2000. He started his career in their athletic program, eventually becoming ACU’s Athletic Director in 2004. He has also served as CEO of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
