Ever heard the term “shade tree mechanic”?

After searching the internet for a good definition, we stumbled upon this one from an unknown source: “shade tree mechanic” generally refers to someone without formal training or a repair shop but is generally believed to be pretty good at fixing cars.

Years ago, we would use an unlicensed repairman to avoid the cost of authorized repairs through a dealership or other repair shop.

However, as car manufacturers have increased the use of computers and electronics in our vehicles, the ability to repair your automobile has greatly decreased.

This situation resembles how we sometimes approach life as Proverbs 3:5 explains, “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

If you’re struggling with an issue in your life, or are feeling broken, stop relying on home remedies and human “self-improvement” techniques to get better – He has and is the answer for every affliction we face in life.

In other words, stop trying to “work” on yourself because the Lord doesn’t need your head under the hood.
