Thomas "Tom" Brockman (Kress)

Thomas “Tom” Brockman, 80, of Kress, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Stinnett Cemetery, Stinnett, TX., with Mr. Carl Hartman officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia, Texas.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Tom was born October 30, 1943, in Phillips, Texas, to Roy and Maxine (Paschal) Brockman. He was a graduate of Dumas High School – Class of 1962. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966 and served as a diver in the Vietnam conflict.  He married Jean Jennings in 1967 in Borger, Texas. After his discharge, they moved to Pampa, Texas, and he worked for Phillips 66 as a mechanic. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture education. He taught agricultural education and served as an FFA advisor at Munday High School and Idalou High School for three years, respectively. Tom opened his own business, “Texas Ornamental Iron,” in Lubbock, which he ran for six years before returning to teaching agriculture at Kress High School.  He retired from teaching in 2008.  Tom enjoyed running his own cattle herd and was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Lockney

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maxine Brockman, and his brother, Jim Brockman.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Brockman of Kress; his daughters, Tiffany Zimmel and husband Peter of Missouri and Amy Barefield and husband Alan of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Sam Zimmel and wife Hannah of Missouri, Will Barefield and wife Kat of Mississippi and Allyson Barefield of Mississippi; his great-granddaughter, Annie Zimmel of Missouri.
