
FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds battled the Quanah Indians in their final home district game on Tuesday.
The Indians started the scoring in the top of the first, taking a 1-0 lead.
Floydada responded in the bottom half of the inning, tying it 1-1.
The Whirlwinds then extended their lead in the bottom of the second, going up 4-2.
In the third inning, the Indians rallied for four runs and regained the lead 6-4.
Floydada showed resiliency and put five runs on the board to take a 9-6 lead.
The Whirlwinds closed the game out in the top of the seventh to secure the district victory over the Indians 13-6.
Floydada moves to 16-6 overall and 8-1 in district play.
With the win, the Whirlwinds have solidified their spot as district champions, the first time since 2017.
They will close out their regular season on Friday in Lockney.
