FLOYD COUNTY, TX – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has released its April 2026 Crime Report, detailing a range of incidents investigated throughout the month. The following cases are presented in chronological order as reported by local law enforcement:
On April 2nd, a deputy received a report from a complainant who discovered fraudulent charges on their Verizon account. The charges included purchases made using three credit cards to buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The complainant also reported an attempted hack of their Apple account.
Also on April 2nd, a complainant reported that two firearms were stolen from a garage during home renovations. The missing items included a Rock River LAR-22 7-inch pistol with a silencer and a Mossberg 500/410.
On April 3rd, Floydada Police responded to the 500 block of West Missouri Street regarding criminal mischief after two vehicles were egged overnight. No additional damage was reported, and the case remains under investigation.
On April 5th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Pontiac G6 in Floydada for a traffic violation. A probable cause search revealed methamphetamine in the vehicle. Noe Marmolejo, 40, and Christine Rodriguez, 36, both of Floydada, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Later that day, a deputy responded to the 700 block of SW 4th Street after a juvenile reportedly threatened to harm another juvenile. The case was referred to juvenile probation.
On April 6th, a deputy was approached at Producers by a complainant reporting a stolen trailer from the Darty Gin. The trailer, described as a black 16-foot trailer with ramps, had reportedly been missing for over a month.
On April 8th, a deputy responded to a crash on FM 784 involving a deer and a 2018 Dodge pickup pulling a stock trailer. No injuries were reported.
On April 9th, another crash involving a deer occurred on State Highway 207 with a 2005 Ford Excursion. No injuries were reported.
On April 11th, Floydada Police responded to a crash in the 100 block of West California Street. A 2011 Ford Expedition backed into a 2007 Dodge Charger traveling westbound. The driver of the Expedition was cited for unsafe backing and was later found to be uninsured.
On April 13th, a complainant reported a package theft from their porch in the 300 block of East Tennessee Street. The stolen item was a Texas Speed camshaft valued at $400.
On April 14th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Houston for speeding. Floydada Police and K-9 Reka assisted, and a positive alert led to a probable cause search. Methamphetamine was located, and Alejandro Cabrera, 30, of Lubbock, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On April 17th, a deputy responded to the 800 block of FM 378 regarding a report of animal cruelty. A complainant alleged their guardian abandoned their dog on a county road. The case is pending.
On April 18th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai on US 70 in Lockney. A probable cause search revealed a THC vape pen. Tanner Edwards, 28, of Plainview, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (PG 2) in an amount between one and four grams.
On April 25th, a deputy attempted to stop a Chevy Impala for speeding on TX 207 south of Floydada. The driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit through Second Street and back into Floydada before stopping in the 500 block of West Ross Street. Maricela Hernandez, 18, of Lubbock, was arrested for evading in a motor vehicle.
Also on April 25th, Floydada Police responded to a domestic dispute at 700 West California Street. The caller reported that her husband threatened her and another individual with a firearm after returning home from an outing. The caller later met officers in Plainview. The case remains under investigation.
On April 27th, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about an individual waving a firearm on Matador Highway near FM 28 South. Officers determined the individual had pointed the weapon at a motorist attempting to help what appeared to be a stranded driver. The individual, from New Mexico, was taken into custody and later transported to a treatment facility in Amarillo following an emergency detention due to a mental health crisis. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for possible aggravated assault charges.
Later that same day, the Sheriff’s Office received another 911 call from a woman reporting that her husband had assaulted her and taken their child. Deputies responded to the 900 block of West Jackson Street and spoke with the caller. The husband later arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and claimed the altercation involved mutual accusations of assault. The case remains under investigation.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate several of these incidents as the month’s cases progress.
