Floyd County Celebrates 2026 Pioneer Award Recipients

FLOYD COUNTY, TX – Floyd County has announced the recipients of the 2026 Pioneer of the Year honors, recognizing community members whose lifelong dedication, service, and contributions have helped shape the county for generations.

This year’s honorees include Cleona Taylor as Pioneer Woman of the Year, Artemio Diaz as Pioneer Man of the Year, and Daniel and Reeda Cay Smith as Pioneer Couple of the Year.

The annual recognition honors individuals and couples who have spent much of their lives serving and supporting the Floyd County community through leadership, volunteerism, business, agriculture, education, church involvement, and civic engagement.

Recipients are selected for their lasting impact on the community and for helping preserve the values, traditions, and spirit that continue to define Floyd County.
