FLOYDADA — With football season in full swing, local media companies are warning of fraudulent sports livestreams surfacing on social media.

“The Floyd County Record and KFLP are the only entities authorized to broadcast and stream Floydada Whirlwinds athletics,” said Alex Driggars, Managing Editor of the Floyd County Record. “Anyone claiming to provide live coverage of the games other than the Record and the radio station is full of it,” Driggars said.

Driggars says the links are scams, trying to dupe fans to purchase access to nonexistent livestreams.

“The Record and KFLP provide the Floydada football streams 100 percent free to viewers, and we will never ask you to provide credit card numbers or personal information to access the streams,” Driggars said. “We’re able to provide this service for free thanks in large part to all of our wonderful advertisers,” he added.

Driggars also noted that currently there is not a video stream of Lockney football games produced each week. Any site claiming to provide a stream of Lockney football games (with the exception of tonight’s game) is also fraudulent, he said.

Friday’s Floyd County Championship game between Floydada and Lockney can be streamed here or heard on the radio on 106.1 FLiP FM.
