Cano to serve as State Executive Director for USDA Farm Service Agency

WASHINGTON — The Biden Administration recently appointed Benancio Cano, Jr. as the new State Executive Director (SED) for the USDA Texas Farm Service Agency (FSA). Cano joined the Texas FSA team on Jan. 3, 2022.

Cano is a native of Pharr, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. He graduated from Texas A&M University Kingsville in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. Cano began his FSA career in October of 1994 as a County Operations Trainee, in 1995 he served as the Starr County CED until 2002 when he became the District Director for the southern area of Texas overseeing 14 county offices and two farm loan offices.

As SED, Cano will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of FSA programs to agricultural producers in Texas.  These commodity, conservation, credit, and disaster assistance programs ensure a safe, affordable, abundant, and nutritious food, fiber, and fuel supply for consumers.
