Floyd County Stock Show wraps up Saturday with pigs, goats, lambs

MUNCY — Area youth continued to show off their hard work Saturday as the 2022 Floyd County Junior Livestock Show came to a close with gilts, barrows, goats and lambs.

The morning led off with gilts. Brighton Reese went home with breed and grand champion honors for her Hampshire, and Carter Duniven’s breed-champion Duroc gilt secured the reserve grand champion award.

Kaileigh Cook, Duniven, Reynatisha Sanchez, Adrian Jimenez and Kaitlyn Vega each won breed champion in the Berkshire, Black OPB, White OPB, Yorkshire and Cross categories, respectively.

The barrow show followed, and Reese again was the top performer, winning the breed and grand champion awards with her Cross. Kaileigh Cook’s Duroc won breed champion and reserve grand champion.

Cook also won breed champion in Black OPBs and Yorkshires,  while Carter Duniven won the Berkshire breed and Kaitlyn Vega took Hampshires.

Kason Villarreal was chosen for the junior swine showmanship award and Cook won senior showmanship.

The swine shows rolled straight into the goat show, where Michelle Guerrero took grand champion honors and Colby Guerrero won reserve grand champion.

Michelle Guerrero and Dax Guerrero won the senior goat showmanship and junior goat showmanship awards, respectively.

Next in lambs, Reese yet again earned the grand champion buckle for her Medium Wool breed champion. Sydni Chesshir landed in the reserve grand champion slot with her breed-champion Southdown, and Chesshir also had a breed-champion Dorper.

Chesshir won the senior lamb showmanship award and Reese the junior lamb showmanship award.
