AUSTIN, TX – The Lockney High School Band celebrated a major accomplishment this past weekend as 42 students qualified for the State Solo & Ensemble competition held in Austin.
Students represented Lockney with strong performances throughout the event, earning high marks and positive ratings across multiple categories. Seven students also received Division 1 medals, an achievement considered especially difficult at the state level competition.
Students earning Division 1 honors included Carter Duniven, Daniel Alvarado, Logan Rodriguez, Evan Salazar, Bray Sanchez, Anyssa Sanchez, and Matthew Goodwin.
The trip highlighted both musical achievement and community support, with the Lockney Band Booster organization helping fund the students’ visit to Six Flags Fiesta Texas following the competition. School supporters, families, and community members were also recognized for encouraging and supporting the students throughout the season.
