Lockney ISD Board Takes Action on Staffing, Finances, and Band Trailer

LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney ISD Board of Education held its regular meeting on May 14, approving new hires, accepting resignations, approving a budget amendment for a new band trailer, and reorganizing board leadership for the upcoming year. Trustees also reviewed financial reports and instructional material certifications during the meeting. Read more about the decisions made and what’s ahead for Lockney ISD.

The Lockney Independent School District Board of Education met in regular session on May 14, 2026, with board members Heath Rexrode, Tyler Duniven, Justin Graves, Justin Wright, Shaney Brewer, Samantha Foster, and Superintendent Steve Reynolds present. Board member Cecilia Alvarado was absent. Terri Everett was also in attendance.

A quorum was established, and the meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. in the board meeting room by Board Vice President Heath Rexrode. Justin Graves opened the meeting with an invocation. No public forum comments were presented.

During the meeting, the board completed its annual reorganization of officers. Heath Rexrode was elected Board President following a nomination by Tyler Duniven and a second by Justin Wright. Justin Graves was elected Vice President after being nominated by Heath Rexrode and seconded by Tyler Duniven. Shaney Brewer was elected Secretary after a nomination by Tyler Duniven and a second by Justin Graves.

The board approved the consent agenda, including minutes from the previous meeting, by a 6-0 vote.

Trustees also approved payment of current bills, the tax report, and investments totaling $4,892,163.02.

A budget amendment in the amount of $44,000 was approved for the down payment on a new band trailer that had previously been approved during the April 23, 2026 meeting.

Board members approved the ratification of the 2026-27 Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials.

The board also approved contract recommendations for several new hires, including William Snook as 3rd grade Math and Science teacher, Dalton Tallant as junior high PE teacher and coach, and Dr. Andrew Brinkman as band teacher.

In personnel matters, trustees accepted the resignations of Courtney Garrett, Jake Henry, and Jaden Elam.

The next meeting of the Lockney Independent School District Board of Education is scheduled for June 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
