
FLOYDADA, TX – Floydada High School student Britney Machado is once again earning statewide recognition for her academic achievements, advancing to the state level in the prestigious UIL Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Contest.
Machado has been named a state finalist and will travel to Austin on May 18 to present her essay and compete for a spot among the top 10 students in Texas. The competition, which highlights excellence in historical research and writing, is part of the University Interscholastic League’s academic program.
In addition to qualifying for state, Machado’s essay has also been selected for publication at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas. This marks her second published work at the university in the past two years.
Machado’s continued success reflects both her dedication to academic excellence and her talent as a writer. This is also her second consecutive year advancing to the UIL state contest, an accomplishment that underscores her consistency and commitment.
School officials and the community are celebrating Machado’s achievement and wishing her the best as she prepares to compete at the state level.
