ABERNATHY, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds battled the Olton Mustangs in a playoff seeding game on Friday in Abernathy.
The Whirlwinds (24-8, 12-2) and Mustangs (19-10, 12-2) were awarded co-district champions after splitting the district series 1-1.
The Whirlwinds went ahead 16–15 at the end of the first quarter.
Floydada was able to extend their lead in the second quarter and would go into halftime up 36-26.
The Mustangs looked to fight back in the second half, but Floydada would defend the fourth-quarter comeback and secure the victory 64-56.
With the win on Friday, the Whirlwinds will enter the bi-district round of the playoffs as the #1 seed from district 4-2A.
