FLOYDADA, TX – Floydada High School student Toby Zepeda recently had a unique opportunity to work with One Chair at a Time, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing adaptive sports wheelchairs and wheelchair activities for individuals across the Texas Panhandle.

Zepeda met with Joe Chris Rodriguez, founder of One Chair at a Time, along with members of his team, to test specialized sports wheelchair equipment and explore his throwing abilities. The hands-on experience allowed Zepeda to try adaptive equipment designed to help athletes with physical disabilities participate in competitive and recreational sports.

One Chair at a Time focuses on expanding access to adaptive sports by supplying sport wheelchairs and creating opportunities for individuals to discover new abilities through athletics. During the visit, Zepeda was able to learn more about the equipment, receive guidance from Rodriguez and his team, and experience firsthand how adaptive sports can open new doors for athletes.

Zepeda’s experience was documented in a video interview that has since been posted to One Chair at a Time’s YouTube page. In the video, Zepeda shares his thoughts on the process, what the opportunity meant to him, and his excitement about testing the equipment and pushing his limits.
