FLOYDADA, TX – A longtime Floydada tradition will take place on a new date this year. Organizers of the Old Settlers Reunion have announced that the annual event, typically held over Memorial Day weekend, has been moved to May 16 in an effort to encourage greater community participation.
Event coordinators say the change was made strategically to avoid the busy holiday weekend, when many families are traveling or have prior commitments. By shifting the reunion to an earlier date, organizers hope more residents, former Floyd County natives, and visitors will be able to attend and take part in the festivities.
This year’s celebration is being promoted with the theme: “Come celebrate the start of summer with us.” Organizers say the new date offers the perfect opportunity for families and friends to kick off the summer season together while honoring the history and heritage of Floydada and the surrounding area.
The Old Settlers Reunion has long been a cherished community gathering, bringing together generations to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate local traditions. Activities typically include food, fellowship, and entertainment for all ages.
Organizers encourage everyone, whether lifelong residents or those returning home for a visit, to mark their calendars for May 16 and join in celebrating the start of summer in Floydada.
More details about event activities and schedules are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
