SUNDOWN, TX – The Lockney High School Band will take the stage this week as they participate in the annual UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation on Wednesday, March 11. The event will be held at Sundown High School and will feature bands from across the region showcasing their musical preparation and performance skills.
Students in the Lockney High School Band have spent months preparing for this important evaluation, which is a key event in the spring semester for school band programs throughout Texas. During the concert portion of the event, the band will perform a selection of prepared pieces that demonstrate their tone quality, musical interpretation, balance, and overall ensemble performance.
Following the concert performance, the band will participate in the sight-reading portion of the evaluation. In this segment, students are given a piece of music they have never seen before and must perform it after a brief period of study. This portion of the evaluation highlights the students’ musicianship, teamwork, and ability to quickly apply their musical training.
The evaluation provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the hard work and dedication they have put into rehearsals throughout the school year. It also allows directors and students to receive feedback from judges that can help strengthen the band program moving forward.
Community members, families, and supporters of the Lockney band program are encouraged to attend and cheer on the students. Admission to the event is free, and guests are welcome to attend both the concert performance and the sight-reading portion of the evaluation.
The following is the order and schedule for the Lockney High School Band’s performances on Wednesday at Sundown High School.
