FLOYD COUNTY, TX – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has released its March 2026 Crime Report, detailing a range of incidents investigated throughout the month by local law enforcement agencies.
On March 1st, Floydada Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Toyota Highlander in the 400 block of South 2nd Street for speeding. During the stop, an officer observed in plain view a vape pen or smoking device containing a thick yellow liquid concentrate consistent with THC oil. Alexandria Krisann, 22, of Houston, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 ≥4G <400G.
On March 4th, Floydada Police received a report of identity theft at the Sheriff’s Office. The complainant reported that someone had fraudulently obtained a student loan of over $3,000 at Baton Rouge Community College using their personal information.
On March 7th, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 for speeding. The driver showed signs of intoxication, and after further investigation, was confirmed to be intoxicated. Joe Avil, 35, of Slaton, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (3rd or more) and Fleeing a Police Officer.
Also on March 7th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2016 Kia Optima for speeding at the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and Commercial Street in Lockney. The deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana, and a probable cause search revealed drug paraphernalia and psilocybin mushrooms, which were sent for testing. Passenger Brittany Delgado, 31, of Lubbock, was arrested on outstanding warrants for Theft of Property in Lamb County. The driver was released pending lab results.
On March 8th, a deputy received a report of a lost debit card. The complainant stated that someone attempted to purchase gasoline at two convenience stores in Floydada using the card. Information was gathered for further investigation.
Later on March 8th, Floydada Police responded to a verbal dispute in the 700 block of W. Grover. During the investigation, the suspect made a threat of physical harm in the officer’s presence. Miguel Gonzalez, 41, of Floydada, was arrested for making a terroristic threat against a family member.
On March 10th, a deputy responded to an assault in the 300 block of SW 8th Street in Lockney involving juveniles. The case remains under investigation.
Also on March 10th, Floydada Police received a report of Theft of Service. The complainant reported paying an individual to install equipment on a Ford pickup, but the individual refused to complete the work.
On March 15th, deputies were called to the emergency room at WJ Mangold Memorial Hospital regarding a juvenile who had fallen from a moving vehicle. It was determined the juvenile had been riding on the hood of a 2023 Kia Soul, a practice known as “hood surfing.” The girl sustained severe head trauma and was airlifted to UMC Lubbock for treatment.
On March 17th, Floydada Police received a report of a stolen John Deere air compressor with a 50-foot hose from the 600 block of Price Street.
On March 19th, Floydada Police responded to the 800 block of S. Main Street regarding an individual refusing to leave private property. The individual had left prior to the officer’s arrival.
Also on March 19th, a deputy received a report of identity theft on County Road 109. The complainant stated their personal information was being used in Missouri following a denial of SNAP benefits. The case remains under investigation.
That same day, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of animal cruelty in the 100 block of NE 5th Street in Lockney. A dog was reported to be malnourished and confined in a dirty crate. Animal control took custody of the dog for observation after the owner stated it was ill.
Also on March 19th, Floydada Police responded to an accident at Floydada City Park. A Dodge Dart, driven by an unlicensed driver, backed into two parked vehicles. The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and the child’s mother was cited for allowing an unlicensed individual to drive.
Later on March 19th, a deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 5th Street regarding a trespassing complaint. The complainant alleged a neighbor entered their property without permission after reporting animal cruelty and wished to pursue charges.
On March 21st, a deputy responded to the 600 block of West Grover Street regarding a stolen air compressor. The complainant was unsure of the brand or model and also reported a faded red wagon missing.
On March 23rd, a deputy received a report of harassment involving threats made by a former partner’s current girlfriend through phone calls and text messages.
Also on March 23rd, Floydada Police responded to a report of a firearm-related threat in the 600 block of W. Missouri. During the investigation, the officer heard the suspect threaten physical harm. Henry Cumming, 18, of Lumberton, North Carolina, was arrested for making a terroristic threat against a family member.
On March 29th, a deputy met with a complainant in the 500 block of SW 5th regarding an assault that occurred in the 600 block of SW 1st Street. The complainant reported being shoved to the ground by her uncle during a verbal altercation. The case remains under investigation.
On March 31st, a deputy responded to the 100 block of West Missouri regarding a damaged glass window. The damage was believed to have been caused by storms the previous night.
Also on March 31st, a deputy responded to a reported sexual assault in the 1000 block of SW 6th Street. The case is currently under investigation.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate several of these incidents and encourages residents to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
